CONATEL has recently tightened up the rules surrounding letters of authority. Up until recently, an entity outside of Paraguay who had gone through the notary/apostilleprocess (see definition of apostille process here:http://www.sos.wa.gov/corps/apostilles/aboutus.aspx), could send electronic copies of letters of authority for use in the homologation process. However, this is no longer true. Therefore, manufacturers who have not already done so, will have to go through the notary as well as apostille process to authorize a local Paraguayan entity to hold approvals. The letter should be in Spanish or Spanish/English. Approve-it can provide the local rep and translation service; please contact us for further details.

UPDATE:  Since our June news update, we have successfully obtained certificates from CONATEL using electronic copies of Authorization Letters. At this time, original versions of the Authorization Letters are not required. (August 21st 2014 )
