The NOM-208-SCFI-2016 has been published in the official gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación, DOF) on February 7, 2017. This NOM will replace emergency standard NOM‐EM‐016‐SCFI‐2015, and it draws its technical references from technical disposition IFT-008-2015. The NOM-208-SCFI-2016 applies to all devices that operate within the frequency bands 902‐928 MHz, 2400‐2483.5 MHz & 5725‐5850 MHz.
Enforcement date = 60 days from February 7, 2017. Therefore, starting April 8, 2017, the importers will be asked at Mexican customs to present the NOM-208-SCFI-2016 certificate to clear their products from customs.
Please note that local test laboratories and Certification Bodies must also obtain accreditation under this standard to issue Test Reports and Conformity Certificates.
All approvals issued under former NOMs (NOM-EM-016-SCFI-2015 and NOM-121-SCT1-2009) remain valid. Renewal applications (if applicable) will still be able to be filed under NOM-EM-016-SCFI-2015 and there is no need to re-certify under NOM-208-SCFI-2016.
