Israel

Israel MoC Plans to Shut Down 2G and 3G by 2025

The Ministry of Communications (MoC) of Israel has planned to close 2G and 3G networks by the end of 2025, stating the need to create room for new advanced technologies, such as those using 5G. Starting January 1, 2022, commercial importing of mobile devices that only support old technologies will be prohibited. Approve-IT expects an update on 5G deployment in Israel, but is awaiting MoC's official confirmation.

Russia

Russia Implements New Marking for GOST-R Certification

Russia is replacing the conformity mark “PCT” with the market circulation mark “CTP,” and this requirement came into force on June 21, 2021. CTP marking becomes mandatory for all products subject to certification under both Russian national standards and technical regulations. Brazil

Brazil ANATEL Publishes Act 5701

The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil has published Act 5701, which complements Act 4088 issued in 2020. Previously, Act 4088 confirmed that Telecommunication/RF devices subject to ANATEL approval must arrive in the country at customs properly labeled and identified with the ANATEL label/ID. Under the current wording from Act 4088, this requirement would be mandatory starting August 1, 2021. With the issuance of Act 5701, ANATEL increased the time for manufacturers to comply and this requirement will be mandatory starting August 1, 2022. Medical devices that make use of wireless/RF technology, subject to both ANVISA registration and ANATEL approval, are also included in Act 5701’s mandatory requirement listed above.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia SASO Adjusts IEC 62368-1:2020 Standard Implementation Date

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) updated their requirements to only accept SASO-IEC 62368-1:2020 test reports. The implementation date was originally scheduled for July 1, 2021, however SASO announced that the standard enforcement will now be on January 1, 2023. SASO IEC 62368-1:2017 test reports will continue to be accepted until December 30, 2022. SASO IEC 60950-1 and 60065 have been withdrawn.
