Zambia ZICTA Opens Public Consultation on 5G Spectrum

The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has opened a public consultation on the Authority’s preliminary plans for the 5G Spectrum. The consultation is open and the Authority invites interested parties to submit comments before the deadline of August 20, 2021. Egypt

Egypt NTRA Approves VoLTE Service

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt has approved voice calls via 4G Technology (VoLTE). VoLTE service has never before been applied in Egypt, and this change is a response to the several requests from operators to obtain NTRA approval for launching VoLTE service for their subscribers. NTRA approved to start launching this service after operators had met all the necessary technical and regulatory requirements.

Kenya

Kenya CAK Removes Provisional Certificate System

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) has stopped issuing Provisional Type Approval certificates and will now only issue final Type Approval certificates. Previously the Provisional Type Approval certificates had a validity of 6 months. The current Type Approval certificate will have no period of validity. No announcement has been made regarding this update and Approve-IT is awaiting CAK’s official confirmation.

Brazil ANATEL Publishes Act 5205

The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil has published Act 5205 on July 9, 2021. This Act establishes rules and documents for ANATEL’s Branded Conformity Declaration evaluation model, and guides which procedures, documents, and reports must be used for product certification through conformity declaration as indicated by Act 7280.

Europe

EU ETSI Harmonized Standard EN 300 328 V2.2.2 Becomes Mandatory August 6, 2021

The transition period for ETSI EN 300 328 will end on August 6, 2021. ETSI EN 300 328 regulates specifications like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee for transmission in the 2.4 GHz band. Starting August 6, 2021, all products evaluated by previous versions of ETSI EN 300 328 will need to adhere to the requirements for V2.2.2.
