Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia SASO Adjusts IEC 62368-1:2020 Standard Implementation Date

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) updated their requirements to only accept SASO-IEC 62368-1:2020 test reports. The implementation date was originally scheduled for July 1, 2021, however SASO announced that the standard enforcement will now be on January 1, 2023. SASO IEC 62368-1:2017 test reports will continue to be accepted until December 30, 2022. SASO IEC 60950-1 and 60065 have been withdrawn.

Japan

Japan MIC Opens Public Consultation on Mobile Communication Systems in 2.3 GHz Band

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in Japan opened a public consultation on a Draft Ministerial Ordinance to partially revise regulations to make the 2.3 GHz frequency band available for Mobile Communication Systems. Equatorial Guinea ORTEL Updates Certificate Validity

Órgano Regulador de las Telecomunicaciones (ORTEL) of Equatorial Guinea has updated the validity of certificates from 3 years to 2 years. No official announcement has been made from ORTEL regarding this change, however new certificates are now issued clearly mentioning the 2-year validity period.

Malaysia

Malaysia SIRIM Extends Interim Type Approval for IPv6 Cellular Equipment Without Wi-Fi Interface

The Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) has extended the interim Type Approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without Wi-Fi interface for one year, effective July 10, 2021. During the interim period applicants must conduct the test with an available accredited laboratory and submit the test report to be evaluated by SIRIM. All new applications and Certificate of Conformity (CoC) renewals will have a maximum validity of one year.

Singapore

Singapore CPSO Updates High-Risk Controlled Goods Safety Standards

The Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) of Singapore has updated the safety standards for High-Risk Controlled Goods, which is regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR). Singapore Enterprise issued Circular CPSO-120721-00 on July 12, 2021 with a list of updated required safety standards that will take effect July 13, 2022. CPSO also updated their CPS Booklet on July 2, 2021.
