Bhutan BICMA Publishes 26 GHz Band Plan

The Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (BICMA) published a notification on February 20, 2024, sharing the 26 GHz Frequency Band Plan. The Plan was developed to prevent interference from similar and different services, while maintaining provisions for future 5G use. Canada ISED Publishes ICES-Gen Issue 2

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) in Canada has published Interference-Causing Equipment Standard ICES-Gen, Issue 2, “General Requirements for Compliance of Interference-Causing Equipment” on February 23, 2024. This issue replaces ICES-Gen, Issue 1, and includes updated requirements and definitions, QR Code labeling, and a simplified ISED label. USA FCC To Vote on Cybersecurity Labeling for IoT Devices

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA announced on February 21, 2024 that a vote will be held at the FCC Open Meeting on March 14, 2024 regarding the creation of a cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The proposed program would include a new “U.S. Cyber Trust Mark” which would be applied to smart consumer devices which meet cybersecurity standards. The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) in Canada has opened a public consultation on Radio Standards Specification RSS-210, Issue 11, February 2024 – “Licence-Exempt Radio Apparatus: Category I Equipment.” The consultation may be accessed here and will be open for comments until May 3, 2024. USA FCC Allows Licensed and Unlicensed Use of WMAS

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA announced on February 15, 2024 that new rules have been adopted to allow for technology using Wireless Multi-Channel Audio Systems (WMAS) to operate on licensed or unlicensed basis. Due to WMAS’s efficient spectrum use, there will be no need to allocate additional spectrum from other devices that use these frequencies, which will ultimately expand opportunities for wireless microphone users.
