Saudi Arabia SASO Updates Requirements for Smartphone Chargers and Electronic Devices

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has updated requirements for the following HS Codes. Valid SABER certificates with specific HS Codes will need to consider standards unifying port types for electronic devices and chargers for smartphones (SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017; SASO-IEC 62680-1-3:2017) prior to August 1, 2024. SASO will begin reviewing applications on August 1, 2024, and certificate compliance must be updated by October 1, 2024. Please contact your Approve-IT project manager for more information.

Mexico IFT Online Registration Portal

The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFETEL) of Mexico has opened its online registration portal Ventanilla Electrónica. Local certificate holders will need to register through the IFETEL online portal. Approve-IT recommends customers have their local companies complete the online registration as soon as possible to avoid delays since e-mail applications will not be accepted in the near future. China MIIT Issues RFID Regulations for 900 MHz Band

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China issued Radio Management Regulations for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Equipment in the 900 MHz Band on April 29, 2024. These Regulations will come into effect on November 1, 2024, at which point the 800/900 MHz Band RFID Technology Application Regulations will be abolished. Japan MIC Opens Public Consultations on 6.7 MHz Band and Smart City Guidelines

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in Japan has opened the following public consultations: Draft Report of the Radio Utilization Environment Committee - Technical Conditions for Electric Field-Coupled Wireless Power Transmission Systems using Frequencies in the 6.7 MHz Band - The consultation may be accessed here and will be open for comments until May 17, 2024; and “Smart City Security Guidelines (Version 3.0)” (draft) - The consultation may be accessed here and will be open for comments until May 28, 2024.
