India MeitY Clarifies CRO Exemption

The Ministry of Electronics and information Technology (MeitY) of India issued a clarification letter on April 11, 2022, regarding the goods exempted from compliance with the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRO) of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Due to receiving repeated requests from manufacturers and importers for issuances of exemption certificates, MeitY has reminded stakeholders that the exemption is for exceptional cases only and advised that all stakeholders comply with the provisions of the Order.
