The Government of Malaysia has announced their plan to phase out 3G network coverage by the end of 2021. Starting January 1, 2021, approvals (including renewals) will no longer be issued for “3G-only devices and 4G-capable mobile phones without Voice over LTE (VoLTE).” The goal of this plan is “to improve existing 4G network and to ensure the foundation for 5G network.” Approve-IT has seen and expects to see similar actions from other countries in the near future.
